Drones Flying into Prison to be Examined by New Police Team

The Prison Service and police in England and Wales are endeavoring to up the ante in ensuring that drones are not used to transport drugs and mobile phones to prison inmates. The plan named as “red herring” is geared towards examining captured drones to figure out who was the pilot controlling them remotely. The initiative will see around £3m pumped into the system since about 10,000 mobile phones are captured from the prison inmates on yearly basis. A couple of drone pilots have already been sentenced to jail after being convicted of using drones to smuggle contraband into the prison.
