New Mexico Bill to Prohibit Drones near Power Plants and Airports

A lawmaker from New Mexico has recently proposed a bill to prohibit drones from being flown in the vicinity of around 500 feet near power plants, oil refineries and other sensitive installations. According to the bill proposed by Republican Senator Greg Baca of Belen, any violations under this bill will be regarded as misdemeanors.

The Senator appreciated the federal rules and regulations in place for the drone usage. However, she also urged the state’s legislature to also formulate such laws that ban drones for barging in important facilities in the state. Some of the critical installments include Government buildings, airports, police and military spaces. The bill was introduced earlier this month.
