3 Top RC Helicopters with Impressive Flight Time

I was fortunate enough to get my hands on three RC helicopters along with my kids. We had the enviable opportunity to determine which one was an ideal RC helicopter for the outdoors and also figure out which one offered the longest flight durations. I was always of the view that an RC helicopter would be too expensive and need some exceptional flying skills. However, I was quite pleasantly surprised that all the three models that we are going to talk about here are reasonably priced and incredibly easy to operate.

Syma S107/S107G RC Helicopters

The Syma S107/S107G RC Helicopter is available on the market just for around $20. It is quite small in size and can easily be grasped in the palm of your hand with seamless ease. However, such a small size did worry me about its durability. However, it consists of a metallic frame along with some plastic components.

So, despite some crashes, it will be able to sustain the damage. You should remember that it is surely not an ideal RC helicopter for outdoor flights and even the manufacturers recommend users to fly it indoors.

The Syma S107/S107G RC Helicopters is quite user-friendly and you can operate it really easily. It can go up, down, left, and right. It is equipped with high-end gyroscope technology that ensures that the machine remains stable during flight. Most of the kids will get acquainted with it rather quickly.

However, we paid no heed to the manufacturer’s recommendations and took the Syma S107/S107G RC Helicopter out for some fun. It fared okay but in case of strong wings around, fear for the worst. It comes with a LiPo battery that takes around half an hour to get charged completely and offers a flight time of around 10 minutes.

This might not look too spectacular of a flight duration but considering an RC vehicle of this size, such a flight duration seems to be the standard figure. It may not be the most flamboyant RC vehicle out there but if offers a nice flight experience and considering its price, it appears to be a great bargain.

Haktoys HAK303 Mini 3.5 Channel RC Helicopters

The Haktoys HAK303 Mini 3.5 Channel RC Helicopters are a bit larger in size in contrast to the earlier helicopter that we discussed and can be had for about $30. I have been quite impressed by its design and overall looks. Boasting a sporty appearance, it comes with flashing lights that give it an amazing look during flight.

The Haktoys HAK303 Mini 3.5 Channel RC Helicopter offers a control range of 50 feet which is good enough. I had a great experience flying it with my kids and we took it as high as we possibly could without any hitch. It might not be one of the best RC helicopters for outdoors. Nevertheless, you can still have plenty of fun with it with regard to outdoor flights. Consisting of formidable plastic and metallic materials, it is a solid machine that sustains many crashes.

It was a marvelous experience to take the Haktoys HAK303 Mini 3.5 Channel RC Helicopter to the skies. Out of the three RC helicopters mentioned in this list, it was the easiest to fly, I believe. It incorporates the state of the art gyroscope technology that ensures that the device remains stable during flight.

Once the battery is charged for about half an hour, it offers a flight duration of just about 8 minutes which is not that remarkable. We had great fun flying this little freak and if you want to get your hands on a machine that you can fly around with seamless ease, this one is the one to be had.

  • Boasts a sporty look
  • Easy to fly and maneuver
  • Solid built
  • Reasonably priced

  • Short flight duration
  • Might get out of stock because of high sales

Cheerwing S107/107G Phantom 3CH 3.5 Channel Mini RC Helicopters

Finally, at the third spot, we have the Cheerwing S107/107G Phantom 3CH 3.5 Channel Mini RC Helicopter which can be bought for no more than just $20. I got a red-colored one for the purpose of this review and it looked awesome.

It portrays a semblance of a military-grade helicopter and probably is the coolest of the three choppers mentioned in this list. It consists of the same plastic and metallic materials as the other two helicopters so even if it has to undergo a few crashes, it will still be able to sustain them with seamless ease.

As was the case with the other two choppers, this one was also not recommended for outdoor usage but I along with my kids, took it outdoors and we had lots of fun with it. It is compact in size and fits easily in the palm of your hand. So, when there is strong wind around, it could easily get blown away or smashed into a nearby wall or tree. Keep these things in mind, when you take it for an outdoor excursion.

The Cheerwing S107/107G Phantom 3CH 3.5 Channel Mini RC Helicopter is equipped with gyroscope technology which makes flying this little beast all the easier. The device remains steady during flight and hence you are able to maneuver it rather easily.

In terms of flight duration, the Cheerwing S107/107G Phantom 3CH 3.5 Channel Mini RC Helicopters are the least impressive. The manufacturers claim that if you get the battery charged up for about 50 to 60 minutes, you should get a flight duration of about 6 minutes which is quite disappointing, to be honest.

However, there have been users who have confirmed that they got close to 10 minutes of flight duration with this device. Nevertheless, the additional half an hour of charging time in contrast to the other two choppers seems perturbing, and particularly if you have kids who are eager to go and super-excited, it could sound rather frustrating. Having said that, the design of this chopper is quite cool and should be able to attract any kid in the world.

  • Boasts an impressive design
  • Can be had in red, blue and yellow colors
  • Easy to fly and maneuver
  • Solid built

  • Short flight duration
  • Long charging time for the battery

Things to consider while purchasing a micro RC helicopter

If you are new to the world of RC helicopters, you should ensure that you are well aware of the attributes that you should be looking into as you buy the best RC helicopter for your kids that boasts an impressive flight duration. Here are a few things that you need to keep in mind:

Flight time

Ensure that you are aware of the flight duration you are going to get with a certain device. I believe that you should be looking at a flight time of around 5 to 10 minutes with 8 minutes being the par for the course. It might sound a touch too short but considering that you will only be paying around $20, so 8 minutes of flight time is decent enough.

Charging time

Typically, the charging time should hover around half an hour or so. This is good enough! However, you should make sure that your kids do not get to fly the helicopter before the battery has been charged up completely. In case the battery runs out of juice during flight, there could be a potential crash at risk!

Easy to fly

All of the above three choppers that we tried were quite easy to fly and maneuver. These are user-friendly devices and so you won’t have to worry that your kid will not be able to fly one. However, if you are seeking easy usability, then look for a chopper with a controller that has fewer buttons on it. That would mean fewer controls to look after during flight.

Final Verdict

To be honest, none of the three choppers that we have discussed in this list deserves to be an RC helicopter that has an impressive flight duration. Having said that, I along with my kids had lots of fun with all three devices. There are not a lot of difference among the three so choosing the best of them is not an easy task.

The charging time and flight duration of Cheerwing S107/107G Phantom 3CH 3.5 Channel Mini RC Helicopter probably takes it out of the contest really. Out of the other two, I would recommend you to get your hands on Syma S107/S107G RC Helicopter since it is easy to fly, offers plenty of fun, and can be had for just $20.

The Haktoys HAK303 Mini 3.5CH RC Helicopter costs just around $30 but if your kid gets attracted to its design, then you may well have it too. Nevertheless, out of the two, Syma S107/S107G RC Helicopter would be the one that I would readily place my bet on!
