DRL Drone

5G DRL Drone Magenta is Huge Leap for FPV Racing

There is good news for the Drone Racing League. It overcame a massive hurdle to popularizing the sport of drone racing. On Tuesday, Drone Racing League announced its first-ever 5G DRL drone, which brings an opportunity for them to live stream high-quality videos. Now, things are different as people can see the pilot’s first-person view racing footage in original time in a high-definition feed.

What to expect from the 5G DRL Drone?

Referred to as the Magenta 5G Drone, it is the first racing drone to have a 5G facility for capturing live-streamed videos directly from the Internet. 5G facility will help popularize this DRL drone to many parts of the world. Moreover, it will help in popularizing the sport of drone racing. It is enabling their fans to capture the exciting FPV views that the racing shows telecast.

As a consequence of the success of the 5G DRL drone, many huge companies are jumping onto the 4G and 5G bandwagon. The companies/drone makers who are heavily involved in their 4G and 5G evolution include

  • T-Mobile
  • Parrot
  • Verizon

Recently, Parrot announced their partnership with Verizon to bring the first Verizon 4G LTE connected drone solution in America. This means that you can fly your Parrot ANAFI Ai drone anywhere there is a signal of original-time data transfer.

Thoughts of T-Mobile

T-Mobile is one of the biggest advocates of drone racing and the integration of the 5G DRL drone is just the icing on the cake.

“Today, drones are one of the most crucial use cases for 5G and we’re working long-term to ensure that all drones become 5G-connected. This is why we’ve teamed up with DRL, to fuel this innovation,” Neville Ray, President of Technology at T-Mobile.

Unfortunately, it is unlikely that 5G racing drones will help find people in the lost woods. However, this 5G-enabled drone could revolutionize sports entertainment by capturing exquisite video footage.

“The Drone Racing League is a perfect case study for showcasing the benefits of T-Mobile 5G wireless technology with our high-speed racing drones,” DRL President Rachel Jacobson
