The drone market is proliferated with consumer drones that boast plenty of control options. These are certainly not the devices owned by your dad! They include, in their original packaging, controllers that get synchronized with hand-held devices sporting some seriously complex and hi-tech features allowing for a myriad input options and a number of variables that let you make subtle changes in the flight and camera controls. This is certainly not the case with Lily Drone though!
The awesome Lily is a fabulous camera and a splendid quadcopter. The videos and photographs that can be captured with this device are a bit lower as compared to bigger competitor drones available in the market but you can get 1080p videos at a framerate of 60 frames per second. The 12MP camera photographs superbly stable imagery in addition to tons of useful features. The device is made of black colored polycarbonate aluminium. You just have to launch it into the air and it will start recording fine quality video footages in whatever direction you want while you roam around.
Lily Drone Features
Lily follows you wherever you go because of a sensor that can be placed into the pocket of your trousers and strap onto your wrist. This fabulous device will keep tracking this sensor and whiz through the air above you to take photographs and shoot videos. It can hover as high as 50 feet above your head and can attain speeds of around 25 mph. It, however, does come integrated with cutting-edge technology to ensure that the drone does not come crashing on your head. Moreover, it comes with an app that can be used to adjust a number of parameters, customize camera settings and share videos and photographs. The machine is also equipped with sensors including an accelerometer, magnetometer, barometer and Global Positioning System (GPS).
On the whole, Lily is not a device designed by the manufacturers for the enthusiasts who want to spend their entire day flying drones. Then what does it specifically do? It is actually a drone variant for the popular GoPro. It is a flying camera that follows you wherever you go as you climb mountains, make a run on a track, or go out for a skiing adventure! Lily will capture you as long as you do not overspeed and cross the limit of 25 mph.
If you reserve this superb device, you get it for $500 for a pre-order. However, the drone is projected to be priced at $1,000 once it has been launched officially.
So, considering that your GoPros cost way higher than this and they remain on earth while Lily takes aerial shots of you autonomously without needing to be controlled, this is a great proposition. But again, with GoPro you do not have to be careful about the overhanging branches of trees, birds lurking around to see what’s going on or even violent weather with gusty conditions.Unfortunately company stops selling drones and closing it – here is the email pretext we are gettting from the company (i.e. those people who pre-ordered this device)
Dear Lily community,
Antoine and Henry here from the Lily team. When Lily set out on the journey to create a flying camera over 3 years ago, we were determined to develop and deliver a product that would exceed your expectations.
In the past year, the Lily family has had many ups and downs. We have been delighted by the steady advancements in the quality of our product and have received great feedback from our Beta program. At the same time, we have been racing against a clock of ever-diminishing funds. Over the past few months, we have tried to secure financing in order to unlock our manufacturing line and ship our first units – but have been unable to do this. As a result, we are deeply saddened to say that we are planning to wind down the company and offer refunds to customers (details below).
We want to thank you for sticking with us and believing in us during this time. Our community was the drive that kept us going even as circumstances became more and more difficult. Your encouraging words through our forums and in your emails gave us hope and the energy we needed to keep fighting.
Before we sign off, we want to thank all the people who have worked at Lily, who have partnered with us, and who have invested in us. Thank you for giving your all, nights, weekends and holidays, in the effort to deliver a great product.
After so much hard work, we are sad to see this adventure come to an end. We are very sorry and disappointed that we will not be able to deliver your flying camera, and are incredibly grateful for your support as a pre-order customer. Thank you for believing in our vision and giving us the opportunity to get this far. We hope our contribution will help pave the way for the exciting future of our industry.
Antoine and Henry
